Helen Cox High School 2016-17 Teacher of the Year is Mrs. Bonita Hall. She is originally from West Virginia. Prior to teaching, Mrs. Hall served thirteen years in the Army throughout the United States and Asia. While overseas in the military, she had the opportunity to teach Conversational English to young kids in South Korea, which sparked her interest in teaching. Once she returned to the states, she finished her college degrees and left the military to become a Mathematics Teacher. For the last six years, she has taught Algebra I and Algebra II at Helen Cox. She is the founding sponsor of Mu Alpha Theta, a National Math Honor Society. She enjoys working with today’s youth and inspiring them to love math. During she spare time, she enjoys running marathons, 10K runs, and 5K runs. In addition, she enjoys jet skiing, boating, and sailing, anything to do with water sports.
